First off, I want to thank all of you who have taken the time to stop by and browse the shop! Whether you’re just looking or have bought an item, I am so appreciative of your support and business! You keep this little dream of mine going, while also supporting wildlife, wild places, and the hunting heritage( a % of each sale is donated to conservation organizations who preserve and protect the passions we love).

I’m DessaRae Schultz, the maker behind Her Backcountry Pursuit Outdoor Outfitter.

Growing up on the Missouri River bottoms in North Dakota  I've had a major passion for the outdoors my whole life, from hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, to riding horse, etc., I enjoy all outdoor adventures. From the age of 3 laying in the decoys with my dad goose hunting, to hunting turkeys with my grandpa's old .410 at the age of 9, hunting has been a part of who I am for as long as I can remember. It's more than just a hobby to me, it's my passion and it will forever be a part of my life. Growing up I also loved listening to stories my dad would tell me about him and my uncle riding horse in the mountains. These stories made me fall in love with the mountains and backcountry hunting before I even experienced it for myself. Then when I was 22 years old I finally experienced bear hunting in the backcountry with my dad and that experience truly inspired me to start Her Backcountry Pursuit Outdoor Outfitter and to share my passions and experiences with all of you.

This passion for the outdoors and hunting along with my love for building/ making things, wanting to own my very own small business and always loving sterling silver jewelry is how I came up with my very own design of jewelry. I love western style jewelry, but obviously I also love hunting and the outdoors, so I wanted to create jewelry that would combine both of these, and I haven’t came across many other jewelry designs that incorporate hunting and the outdoors into the designs. Then I started working with elk ivory because I know how special of a keepsake it would be to incorporate ivory from your memorable elk hunt into a piece of jewelry you can pass on for generations. Next I’m looking forward to learning how to engrave  jewelry and I can’t wait to incorporate it into your special pieces.

Besides making jewelry some of my favorite things are riding horse, photography, road trips, being in the mountains, and spending time with my dog, Kimber, and my family, and learning about Real Estate- that’s my next adventure, starting my career as a Real Estate Salesperson.
